What makes ICDL certification a compelling choice for employers?

In today’s digital era, employers must empower their workforce with essential skills for sustained competitiveness. From boosting productivity to gaining a competitive edge, investing in digital skills training elevates individual skills and enhances organisational adaptability in the ever-evolving digital landscape. ICDL makes it easy for employers to upskill their employees and stay ahead in the competitive business environment.

Why choose ICDL certification?

  • Global Standard: ICDL is globally recognized as ‘The Digital Skills Standard.’ Employers benefit from the international recognition of ICDL as it provides a standardized measure of digital skills. This can be particularly advantageous for companies with a global presence or those involved in international business.
  • Cost-Effective Training Solution: ICDL provides a cost-effective training solution, based on identified skills gaps. This efficiency allows employers to maximize the impact of their upskilling initiatives within budget constraints
  • Competitive Advantage: Employers can gain a competitive advantage by having a workforce with ICDL-certified professionals. Certification demonstrates a commitment to maintaining a high standard of digital literacy within the organization, potentially attracting clients, partners, and customers who value employees with well-established digital skills.
  • Clear Return on Investment: Certification serves as a tangible indicator of the return on investment in upskilling employees by validating the acquired skills. It provides measurable evidence of enhanced capabilities, contributing to improved employee performance, increased productivity, and a positive impact on organizational goals, thereby justifying the initial investment in training and development.
  • Enhanced Digital Competence: ICDL certification ensures that employees have a standardized level of digital competence. This includes proficiency in using common computer applications, managing files, and utilizing online tools. ICDL also offers more advanced role specific digital skills as well as understanding of new and emerging technologies.
  • Adaptability to Technological Changes: The ICDL certification program is regularly updated to reflect technological advancements. Certified employees are more likely to adapt to new technologies quickly, staying abreast of industry trends. This adaptability is crucial in today’s rapidly evolving digital landscape.
  • Improved Productivity and Efficiency: Employees with ICDL certification are likely to be more productive as they possess the necessary skills to navigate digital tasks effectively. This can result in time savings, improved workflow, and a reduction in errors, ultimately contributing to a more efficient and streamlined work environment.
  • Employee Confidence and Job Satisfaction: Providing opportunities for employees to earn ICDL certification can boost their confidence in handling digital tasks. Job satisfaction may increase as employees feel more competent and empowered in their roles. This, in turn, can lead to higher employee morale, reduced turnover, and a positive workplace culture.

Identify skills gaps, tailor training and boost productivity

Perception versus Reality

How do you measure digital skills? How do you work out whether a candidate for a job has the skills and competences that they will need to do the work? Letting people self-assess their skills can seem like a simple solution, but it brings a big risk that they will misjudge their abilities.

ICDL Foundation’s ‘Perception & Reality’ report brings together the results of research into self-perception of digital skills, and the reality, measured with a practical test. The new report includes findings from studies conducted in Singapore and India, reinforcing the original findings from five European countries.
