ICDL Foundation and Singapore Academy of Law Pioneer Groundbreaking ICDL Professional Legal Programme

In a historic collaboration, the ICDL Foundation and the Singapore Academy of Law (SAL) achieved a significant milestone by signing a Memorandum of Understanding to develop the first-ever ICDL Professional Legal programme. The agreement, endorsed by Ms. Serene Wee, SAL’s Chief Executive of Law, and Mr. Damien O’Sullivan, Chief Executive of ICDL Foundation, was celebrated at The Fullerton Hotel in Singapore. The signing ceremony was graced by the presence of Ireland’s Minister of Business, Enterprise, and Innovation, Minister Heather Humphreys TD, Ambassador of Ireland to Singapore H.E. Ambassador Pat Bourne, and Kevin Sherry, Executive Director, Enterprise Ireland.

SAL emerges as the preferred global partner for the ICDL Foundation in the development and promotion of the ICDL Professional Legal programme. The initiative focuses on contextualizing three ICDL modules—Application Essentials, IT Security, and Online Collaboration—to cater to the specific training needs of the legal profession. Four distinct groups of learners have been identified for this groundbreaking programme: practising lawyers, in-house legal counsel, paralegals, and law students.

The inaugural launch of the Legal programme will take place in Singapore, with plans for subsequent expansion to other countries. ICDL Asia will be at the forefront, overseeing the program’s delivery through its selected Accredited Test Centres in Singapore.
