Nairobi, Kenya : In a historic milestone for Kenya’s education sector, Makini School has officially been accredited as the newest ICDL Accredited Test Centre (ATC) for the International Certification of Digital Literacy (ICDL). This landmark partnership makes Makini School the very first institution running the local curriculum in Kenya to receive this global accreditation, setting a new benchmark for digital literacy in national curriculum schools.
The official launch took place today at the main campus in Nairobi, bringing together students, teachers, administrators, and leadership from both organizations. The energetic ceremony was attended by Makini Schools’ General Manager, Mr. Godfrey Odhiambo, Academic Director, Ms. Kelsey Keech, the school’s administration, and dedicated teachers.
Among the most enthusiastic attendees were the Grade 7 and Grade 8 learners, who will be the pioneer cohort to take on the globally recognized ICDL certifications.
Speaking during the launch, Mr. Godfrey Odhiambo, General Manager of Makini Schools, emphasized the school’s commitment to preparing future-ready learners.

- Teacher Empowerment: In a show of lead-by-example educators, Makini School teachers will also undergo training and certify in ICDL, ensuring teaching standards align with international digital benchmarks.
- National Expansion: Following the Nairobi launch, Makini plans to accredit all its other branches across Kenya, ensuring that every learner under their care has equal access to global digital standards.
