Romanian teachers turn their ICDL 3D printing skills to making face visors for hospitals and pharmacies

3D printers are being put into action to help manufacture face masks for hospitals and pharmacies in Romania under a new project involving ECDL Romania. Personal protective equipment (PPE), like face masks, is in strong demand as the world responds to the Covid-19 crisis.

The EDUTECH network, initiated by the Association of Romanian Businessmen with the support of ECDL Romania and Dedeman, supports teachers by providing 3D printers to schools along with certification in 3D modelling and printing.

Now in its third edition, the project has created 30 3D printing hubs in high schools in 27 cities across the country, with a network of more than 60 teachers specialized in 3D modelling and printing. Hundreds of students have already been trained and certified under the project.

Romania, like other countries, is facing today an acute crisis due to the emergence of Covid-19. In this extremely difficult time, 3D printing technology is proving to be very useful and effective in the fight against the epidemic, quickly supplementing supplies of PPE for hospitals.

The complete network of 3D Printing hub schools and EDUTECH teachers can be accessed on www.3dutech.ro (in Romanian).
