The Tanzania Information and Communication Technologies Commission (ICTC), a government agency responsible for promoting ICT development, digital literacy, professional standards, and capacity building across Tanzania, officially recognised ICDL Africa as a strategic partner for digital skills development in 2019. The recognition reflects the Commission’s commitment to building a digitally skilled workforce capable of supporting Tanzania’s social and economic transformation.
Since the recognition, ICDL has played an important role in supporting human capital development by providing a structured pathway for acquiring and certifying digital skills. Through a network of accredited test centres across Tanzania, ICDL programmes help students, educators, government employees, and private sector professionals develop the competencies needed to participate effectively in an increasingly digital economy.
The partnership between ICTC and ICDL demonstrates Tanzania’s commitment to strengthening digital skills at a national level and ensuring that citizens have access to internationally recognised qualifications that enhance employability, productivity, and lifelong learning opportunities. The ICT Commission acknowledged that ICDL’s certification framework supports the development of practical digital skills required in education, public administration, and the private sector.
