CONACED and ICDL Partner to Strengthen Digital Skills Across Colombia’s Education Sector

Since 2019, ICDL has maintained a cooperation agreement with CONACED (Confederación Nacional Católica de Educación), Colombia’s National Catholic Confederation of Education. The partnership was established to promote the development of digital competencies across Colombia’s education sector through joint initiatives focused on digital skills training, certification, innovation, and educational transformation.

CONACED is one of Colombia’s most influential educational organisations, representing Catholic educational communities, religious congregations, and federations of educational institutions throughout the country. Through its work, CONACED supports school leaders, teachers, and educational institutions while promoting quality education and continuous professional development.

The collaboration with ICDL was created in response to the growing importance of digital skills in teaching, learning, administration, and workforce preparation. Under the agreement, both organisations committed to implementing strategies and projects that provide students, teachers, administrative staff, and school leaders with access to internationally recognised digital skills training and certification.

By integrating ICDL’s globally recognised certification framework into educational development initiatives, the partnership helps educational institutions measure, develop, and validate digital competencies according to international standards. ICDL programmes provide practical skills across areas such as computer essentials, online collaboration, productivity applications, information management, and cybersecurity, all of which are increasingly important in modern educational environments.

The agreement also aligns with broader efforts in Colombia to strengthen digital literacy and support educational innovation. During the same period, ICDL expanded its presence within the country through collaborations with key national institutions, including the National Learning Service (SENA), as well as initiatives supporting teacher certification and workforce digital skills development. These projects demonstrate a growing commitment across Colombia to building digital competence as a foundation for educational quality, employability, and economic development.

Today, the CONACED-ICDL partnership continues to serve as an important example of collaboration between the education sector and an international digital skills certification provider. By combining CONACED’s extensive educational network with ICDL’s globally recognised standards, the initiative contributes to preparing educators and learners for the demands of an increasingly digital world while supporting the ongoing digital transformation of education in Colombia.
