Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) in Pakistan Partners with ICDL to Bridge Digital Divide and Foster Innovation

Islamabad, February 16, 2024 – In a significant step towards addressing the critical skills gap and fostering digital fluency among students and faculty, Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) has formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ICDL. 

The official MoU signing ceremony, which took place at Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU), was attended and signed by the Dean Faculty of Social Sciences and Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Idrees, representing QAU, and ICDL Asia Local Programme Partner Danubius Consulting’s Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Jehan Zada. 

Among the witnesses were notable attendees from Quaid-i-Azam University, including Dr. Salma Malik, Director of External Linkages, Prof. Dr. Khalid Saleem, Prof. Dr. Hassan Mehmood, Dr. Malik Badshah, Dr. Aqeel Bokhari, and representatives from Danubius Consulting, Hassan Alam, and Haseeb Ahmed. 

The signing ceremony marked the beginning of strategic collaboration between QAU and ICDL, aiming to bridge the digital divide by ensuring students and faculty acquire the internationally recognised digital certification that is relevant and essential in the industry. Furthermore, the agreement also seeks to cultivate a dynamic ecosystem of knowledge exchange and mentorship, fostering a skilful and proficient workforce for significant contributions to Pakistan’s digital economy. 

With the agreement, ICDL will provide the learning resources, a user-friendly learning management system and will issue the internationally recognised ICDL certificates to the university candidates upon their successful completion of the certification test.  On the other hand, QAU will start promoting ICDL programmes through the university’s official channels and provide the necessary facilities to support university students in acquiring ICDL digital skills certifications. Additionally, QAU will also assist in the selection of trainers and enrollment management to enhance the collaboration’s effort.
