Empowering Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) in Mongolia with Digital Literacy

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, March 2025 – In a significant step towards bridging the digital divide, the Digital Inclusion through Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) Empowerment project has successfully equipped staff of CSOs in Mongolia with essential digital literacy skills to enhance digital security, resilience, and impact.

Funded by the European Union and implemented by Faro Foundation Mongolia in partnership with People in Need Mongolia, the project focuses on strengthening CSOs in peri-urban areas of Ulaanbaatar and Umnugovi. Targeting 40 CSOs who work closely with marginalised communities, empowering them with digital literacy to drive meaningful change.

Building Digital Capacity for Sustainable Impact

As part of the initiative, CSO staff participated in the Train the Trainers programme, gaining proficiency in the ICDL Digital Citizen module. The training covered fundamental digital skills, enabling participants to navigate online tools securely and integrate them into their organisational operations.

Upon completion, these trained staff will act as multipliers, passing on their knowledge to marginalised groups. This cascading approach ensures long-term digital inclusion and strengthens community resilience in Mongolia’s evolving digital landscape.

Collaborative Effort for Greater Digital Inclusion

The Digital Inclusion through CSOs Empowerment project highlights the power of collaboration in advancing digital literacy. By working together, Faro Foundation Mongolia, People in Need Mongolia, the European Union, and ICDL are fostering an inclusive digital ecosystem where no one is left behind.

As Mongolia accelerates its digital transformation, initiatives as such play a crucial role in ensuring that marginalised communities have the tools and knowledge access to thrive in the digital age.
