Hanoi, Vietnam – Academy of Policy and Development (APD) has officially recognised ICDL as the standard for IT proficiency for its students, as per Decision No. 825/QD-HVCSPT issued on August 7, 2024. Under this decision, students who obtain ICDL certifications will be exempt from taking, retaking, or converting grades to 8, 9, or 10 in the Basic IT course at the university.
The recognition of ICDL under the newly released Regulations on Recognition of Academic Results and Credit Transfer for Basic IT Courses and Recognition of IT Proficiency Standards for Undergraduate Programs represents a significant advancement for APD students. ICDL certified students will now meet the university’s IT proficiency requirements and will be exempt from the Basic IT course.
To qualify for this exemption, students must pass three out of the following five core ICDL modules:
- Computer Essentials
- Online Essentials
- Documents
- Spreadsheets
- Presentation
In Vietnam, ICDL certification aligns with the Ministry of Information and Communication’s (MIC) ICT skill requirements, serving as a benchmark for ICT proficiency among graduates of Vietnamese universities and colleges. This recognition further highlights a strategic collaboration between ICDL and APD, marking a new milestone in our partnership. With ICDL globally recognised digital certification, APD students will now gain a competitive edge as they enter the job market, equipped with essential digital skills to navigate the challenges and opportunities of the global digital economy. This initiative represents a significant step toward the shared mission of nurturing a digitally literate generation.
Dr. Nguyen The Hung, Vice President of APD, expressed strong support for the partnership with ICDL and outlined plans for future collaboration. He noted that APD intends to offer ICDL advanced digital certifications to its students soon. Furthermore, becoming an ICDL Accredited Test Centre also enable APD to standardise digital skills of its faculty, staff, and students, which will not only enhance the institution’s education quality but also better meet the evolving needs of learners in the digital age.
