ICDL Africa Signs MoU with Kampala International University to Expand Digital Skills Training


Today marks a significant milestone in advancing digital literacy in Africa as ICDL Africa signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Kampala International University (KIU).

Through this partnership, KIU becomes an ICDL Accredited Test Centre (ATC), empowering students and staff across all its campuses to access internationally recognized ICDL certification programs. This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to equipping learners with essential digital skills to thrive in today’s rapidly evolving digital world.

KIU is the second-largest private university in Uganda, with a student population of nearly 26,000 learners. With this scale, the impact of the partnership will be transformative—ensuring thousands of graduates leave the university with globally benchmarked digital skills, enhancing their employability and innovation potential.

Representing ICDL Africa at the signing was Ms. Solange Umulisa, General Manager of ICDL Africa, while Prof. Muhammed Ngoma, PhD, Vice Chancellor of Kampala International University, represented KIU.

Speaking during the ceremony, Ms. Umulisa emphasized the importance of digital skills in education and employability:

“This partnership with KIU is a powerful step towards ensuring that students are not only academically prepared but also digitally empowered for the future workplace.”

Prof. Ngoma highlighted the alignment of this initiative with KIU’s mission to provide quality, holistic, and transformative education:

“By integrating ICDL into our campuses, we are giving our learners and staff a global edge in digital competence.”

This MoU strengthens ICDL Africa’s mission to build a digitally skilled workforce across Africa and reinforces KIU’s role as a leading institution committed to innovation and excellence in education.
