Breaking barriers: Fatouma Camara

Meet Fatoumata Camara from the Republic of Guinea, and recently certified in ICDL from Centre d’excellence Horizon.

I’m excited to share my journey of empowerment through IT with you. Not too long ago, I found myself at a crossroads where I realized the importance of gaining IT skills in today’s digital age. With little prior knowledge, I took a leap and enrolled in courses on ICDL , focusing on Office automation, Computer Essentials, and more.
These courses introduced me to essential tools like Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and even taught me the basics of web browsing and email management. Initially daunting, the structured exercises and exams gradually built my confidence. Today, I can proudly say that I navigate these tools proficiently, without the need for constant assistance.
The impact on my life has been profound. Not only have I enhanced my employability and productivity, but I’ve also integrated these skills into my academic pursuits. Being able to handle my computer tasks independently has removed a significant barrier and empowered me to explore further opportunities.
Looking ahead, I see myself continuing to grow in the field of IT. While I haven’t decided on specific areas to delve into next, I’m open to future possibilities and will choose based on evolving needs and interests.
If you’re contemplating learning IT skills but feel uncertain, my advice is simple: take that first step. The rewards of breaking barriers and gaining independence are invaluable.
