National University of Modern Languages (NUML) Partners with ICDL to Enhance Curriculum with Digital Literacy Focus

Islamabad, Pakistan – May 31, 2024 – The National University of Modern Languages (NUML), a preeminent Pakistani institution renowned for its language programs, has entered into a strategic partnership with ICDL. This collaboration aims to strengthen NUML’s curriculum and equip students with in-demand digital skills, aligning with the university’s commitment to providing a well-rounded education that prepares graduates for success in the globalised job market. 

Building Strong Linkages for Student Success 

NUML actively fosters partnerships with international organisations, industry leaders, and government entities. Formalising the Collaboration 

On March 19, 2024, a formal Agreement of Cooperation was signed between NUML and the ICDL, a global leader in digital literacy education. The signing ceremony, held at the Jinnah Block Conference Room, was attended by Brigadier Shahzad Munir, nswc, psc, Director General of NUML, along with Dr. M. Zubair Iqbal, Pro-Rector of the R&SI Division, the Registrar, and the Director of Academics. Representing ICDL, Mr. Jehan Zada signed the agreement. 

ICDL: A Hallmark of Digital Competence 

The ICDL Foundation, a globally recognised leader, operates in over 100 countries with a network exceeding 20,000 testing centres. Their internationally recognised certifications validate an individual’s proficiency in essential digital skills. With over 70 million ICDL certification tests administered worldwide, the program serves as a trusted benchmark for digital competence. In Pakistan, ICDL is managed by Danubius Consulting, the authorised local Programme Partner. 

NUML to Become an Authorised ICDL Test Centre 

Through this strategic partnership, NUML is poised to become an authorised ICDL test centre. This will provide students and alumni with the opportunity to obtain globally recognised certifications, regardless of their prior IT background. The partnership will focus on promoting the ICDL program, ensuring graduates possess the critical skills needed to flourish in today’s digitalised workplace. This initiative will significantly enhance the employability of NUML graduates, aligning their skills with industry standards and global demands.
