A significant milestone for the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) in Uganda as 43 of their staff successfully graduated after completing eight ICDL modules. The ceremony took place at Clarke International University, an accredited ICDL training and testing center, and was attended by key figures, including NWSC’s General Manager, Eng. Mahmood Lutaaya.
The event was filled with excitement and pride as the graduates celebrated their achievement. Eng. Lutaaya, in his remarks, emphasized the importance of digital transformation within NWSC, stating, “One of the key objectives of National Water is to ensure we are a number one digitally enabled organization. From the way we issue payment notifications to digital water meters and reliable online customer care services, we want to be known for that.”
He acknowledged the valuable partnership NWSC has with ICDL, Clarke International University, and Standard Chartered Bank, which has made this digital skilling initiative possible. So far, over 75 NWSC staff members have been certified, but with a workforce of over 6,000, the journey to fully digitize operations is ongoing.
As the digital landscape continues to evolve, NWSC is investing in equipping its staff with essential ICT skills to enhance operational efficiency and service delivery. Eng. Lutaaya noted, “The need for digital skilling is vast, and we cannot do this alone without such partnerships.”
Clarke International University has been instrumental in delivering this training, ensuring NWSC staff gain critical competencies in ICT. With this certification, the organization moves closer to its goal of becoming a fully digitally enabled corporation, benefiting not only its internal processes but also the millions of customers it serves across Uganda.
Congratulations to all the graduates on this remarkable achievement! This is just the beginning of NWSC’s continued commitment to digital excellence.
