The ICDL Africa Digital Explorer 2023 is an exciting student competition designed to promote ICDL and its comprehensive programs. Initially launching in Kenya and Uganda in the second quarter of 2023, this competition aims to raise digital competency and skills awareness among schools in these territories. The campaign’s central message revolves around “The importance of Digital Literacy for the African future workforce.

The ICDL Africa ATC Forum serves as a gathering point for key Accredited Test Centers (ATCs) and industry partners, including the Government of Kenya, heads of schools, Ministry of ICT, Office of the Chief Cabinet Secretary, Kenya National Qualifications Authority, and Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA). Distinguished speakers from these esteemed partners, along with our ICDL Ambassadors, will act as advocates for ICDL Africa, sharing their experiences of implementing ICDL in various educational institutions and highlighting our close collaborations.

Today, we celebrate a significant milestone of 17 million candidates globally, which is evidence to our commitment to raising digital competency standards through quality certification programs worldwide,” Solange Umulisa, General Manager, ICDLAfrica.

“Digital economy is powered by people, people are powered by digital skills and digital skills are powered by #ICDL,” Damien O’Sullivan , CEO, ICDL Foundation.

The ICDL Africa Digital Challenge aims to not only motivate other schools to adopt ICDL Certification but also raise awareness about our programs within the education sector. Our goal is to promote the larger ICDL Africa Digital Challenge in 2024. We anticipate expanding the ICDL Africa Digital Explorer to all our territories in Africa by the end of 2024, with the finals being hosted by the best-performing country.

The ICDL Africa Digital Explorer 2023 focuses on practical digital skills that are essential for the diverse professional landscape of today and the future. With a strong emphasis on the global digital economy, the competition will expose contestants to emerging technologies, design principles, and the use of office application tools.

ICDL Africa remains committed to reaching out to more schools and territories in our upcoming 2024 competition. We look forward to empowering the African youth with the digital skills necessary for success in the digital age.
