HungHau Education and ICDL Join Forces to Enhance Students’ Digital Competence Standards in Vietnam

Vietnam, April 5, 2024 – Marking a pivotal moment in the advancement of digital competency standards within Vietnam’s educational landscape, HungHau Education, ICDL Vietnam and VMB Vietnam have formalised their collaboration through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA). This agreement aims to deliver ICDL certification across institutions within the Hung Hau Education group. The signing ceremony brought together key stakeholders including representatives from ICDL, HungHau Board of Management, and member institutions within the HungHau Education network. 

ICDL is a globally recognised certification program for digital competence standards. Spans across more than 100 countries and territories, boasting over 24,000 testing centers and certifications awarded to over 17 million individuals. With credentials available in 41 languages, the program stands as a beacon of global standards in digital proficiency. In Vietnam, ICDL certification carries substantial weight, aligning seamlessly with the Ministry of Information and Communication’s (MIC) ICT skill requirements and serving as a benchmark for ICT proficiency among graduates of Vietnamese universities and colleges. 

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr. Tran Huu Than, Deputy General Director of HungHau Education, underscored the importance of nurturing ICT skills among learners to meet evolving societal demands, particularly the need for a high-quality workforce. He stated, “Choosing ICDL as one of the international certifications to establish standards for students within the HungHau Education system reflects our strategic endeavour to equip students with essential skills in today’s rapidly modern changing world.” 

Echoing this sentiment, Ms. Le Thi Thuy Phuong, CEO of HungHau Education, affirmed, “Following the signing ceremony, HungHau Education will soon adopt ICDL as the standard output for students and seamlessly integrate it into other training curriculum in HungHau Education system.” 

Mr. Damien O’Sullivan, CEO of ICDL Foundation expressed his optimism towards the continuous collaborative efforts of all parties to enhance the quality of education and teaching. He expressed confidence that students within the HungHau Education system would be empowered with ICDL digital skills and certification, which align with the international standards prevalent in advanced nations worldwide and meet the increasing demands of future job markets. 

Following the signing ceremony, Hung Hau Education will start to introduce ICDL as a digital standard for all students at Van Hien University, with plans to subsequently expand its implementation across all member schools within the Hung Hau Education group. The MOA signing between Hung Hau Education, ICDL Vietnam, and VMB Vietnam marks a pivotal milestone in the journey toward fostering digital literacy and proficiency among the Vietnam student community thereby bolstering their readiness for the challenges in the digital era, ensuring the future pillars possess the necessary skills to thrive in an increasingly technology-driven world.
