OVER 1,000 TRAINERS OF THE NATIONAL LEARNING SERVICE IN COLOMBIA TO BE ICDL CERTIFIED

A digital skills programme is set to start in Colombia with cooperation between the National Learning Service, Servicio Nacional de Aprendizaje (SENA) and ICDL Colombia. The National School of Instructors of SENA aims to train instructors to ensure they have the necessary digital skills to include ICT in their teaching activities and daily work.

As part of this pilot, the partnership will train and certify 1,000 SENA instructors by December 2015 in seven different cities: Armenia, Barranquilla, Bogota, Bucaramanga, Cali, Medellin and Neiva. After this first stage, the process will be replicated for all instructors, aiming to close the digital gap around the country.

At the same time, the project aims to deliver a ‘Train the Trainer’ programme for 20 SENA instructors, building capacity to set up some SENA Training Centres as ICDL Accredited Test Centres in different cities so that communities will have access to the digital skills certification with international standards through ICDL.

SENA, affiliated with the Ministry of Labour, promotes the development of labour skills of the population in Colombia, providing free training to millions of citizens who benefit from technical, technological and complementary programmes that focus on economic, technological and social development of the country based on the National Government’s goals.
