ICDL Africa participated as a Silver Partner at this year’s Innovation Africa summit, held in Kigali, Rwanda. The event was a unique opportunity to conduct one to one meetings with invited Government Ministries from across Africa, alongside a comprehensive conference schedule discussing the latest innovations and strategies for ICT growth.
Particular highlights of interest for ICDL included the discussion around developing skills in the vocational and higher education sector, as well as a discussion on the development of teacher training in basic education.
Very positive meetings where held between ICDL Africa and Government Ministries and organisations in Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Nigeria, Rwanda, Uganda and Zimbabwe. Of particular interest across the board was a pilot of the ‘ICT in Education’ module, a recurring problem highlighted by Governments was the lack of existing training available for teachers to use the resources that are available to them correctly.
