The Austrian Computer Society (OCG) launched the new ECDL Computing module earlier this year. Alongside the introduction of this module, OCG has embarked on a major cooperation on coding with the Ministry of Education. As a result, every teacher in Austria can take ECDL Computing training workshops offered by OCG, and have the opportunity to pass the exam. The costs are paid by the Austrian Ministry of Education.

In May, the first ECDL Computing workshops and exams for teachers took place. In June, OCG celebrated the first teachers who passed the exams successfully. They received their certificates from Ronald Bieber, General-Secretary of OCG, and will start to train their students for the ECDL Computing module. In the meantime OCG has offered several workshops, with the next ECDL Computing workshop taking place at the biggest Austrian teachers’ fair, Interpädagogica, in November. At the OCG booth there, every teacher is invited to learn more about the ECDL programme, coding, robotics and 3D-Printing.
