Meeting with Minister of ICT of Burkina Faso, Hon. Hadja Fatimata Ouattara Sanon and Mr. Samba Bathily, Founder & CEO of Afritek IT Solutions
On Wednesday 9th May 2018, Solange Umulisa ICDL Country Manager – Rwanda and Daris Gabguidi – ICDL Africa Accrediation Consultant, Francophone Countries met with Minister of ICT of Burkina Faso, Hon. Hadja Fatimata Ouattara Sanon and Mr. Samba Bathily, Founder & CEO of Afritek IT Solutions during the recent Transform Africa Summit 2018 in Kigali, Rwanda.

Afritek IT Solutions, a subsidiary of the ADS Group, is an integrator of IT solutions for states, institutions and the private sector in Africa. Afritek IT Solutions started the smart village initiative with a pilot in Rwanda. The objective of this initiative is to transform rural communities by offering digital literacy training, online government services, digital financial literacy and digital health check and the related electronic records.
In September 2017, Africa Development Solutions (ADS launches it’s first solar powered container in Rwanda in partnership with the Ministry of ICT as part of the Smart Village initiative. This is a solar powered container center and offers services such as a computer lab for training, Wi-Fi, and a basic clinic for routine medical checkup and electronic medical records. As part of the partnership, Solektra installed 18 solar streetlights to light up a market, a clinic and other public areas in Tumba, Rulindo District.
ADS plans to expand this initiative to West African countries. The focus for this year is to start with Burkina Faso by August 2018. They will have 100 smart containers and each container will be fully equipped with computers and three trainers who will be ICDL trained and certified.
According to Hon. Hadja Fatimata Ouattara Sanon, Minister of Digital Economy and Postal Developmen – Burkina Faso, the project will start with the ICDL training and certification of 300 trainers who will then train 6000 people within two years. The Minister promised to constitute a team to work with ICDL Africa to start the implementation of this project.
