MoU Signed between ICDL Africa and Ministry of Digital Economy and Communication in Benin
ICDL Africa team had a meeting with the Minister of Digital Economy and communication of Benin, Minister Aurelie I.Adam Soule zoumarou.
The main reason of the meeting was to sign the MoU between ICDL Africa and the Ministry of Digital Economy and communication in Benin.
In the first place, the Minister Aurelie I.Adam Soule zoumarou started by thanking the ICDL Africa team to have coordinated the meeting and make it happen. She shared about the appreciation she has about ICDL programme in West Africa whereby she heard for the first time about ICDL Programme in UN Mission (Ivory coast ).
Etinick Mutinda, took time to talk in brief the background of ICDL Programme and especially the role that plays to promote the youth career development in terms of Digital literacy.
Speaking of the career development, the General Manger Etinick Mutinda continued highlighting the projects that are taking place in Uganda with the support of great Sponsors such as Mastercard Foundation. He mentioned also about the presence of ICDL Africa across the 17 countries in Africa.
The Minister Aurelie I.Adam Soule zoumarou, inquired about the age requirement to start the introductory Programme to the young children in Schools.
On the above query, Solange Umulisa , explained about the Introductory Programme that ICDL offers such as Digital Citizen & Digital Citizen Plus that would be relevant to the children but also the people from the rural areas that do not have any knowledge about the computer use.
She continued by sharing the case of Rwanda, whereby the Digital literacy has been emphasized in schools in the line of National Policy to strengthen the digital literacy from the basis.
An example of the Public Institution Rwanda Management Institute that monitors the public servants has been also mentioned.
The Minister Aurelie I.Adam Soule zoumarou, was with the idea of starting a Pilot of 82 People that should be trained and present the yield to the Ministerial cabinet, to sell the idea then expanding the certification across the country. She requested the ICDL Africa team to come up with a detailed proposal to certify the pilot of 82 people including the trainings schedule and Budget.
Both parties agreed that this will be finalised in the soonest.
ICDL Africa is looking forward to expanding its brand as far as possible.
